The Patient Coalition of Washington

Mission Statement: The Patient Coalition of Washington brings together the state’s leading patient groups to have one voice for better health care. We exist to advocate for policies that will improve the lives of people with a chronic or rare disease.

We aim to influence policy at the state level in Olympia, bringing the stories of people living with a chronic disease straight to elected officials.

The Patient Coalition of Washington advocates for policies that focus on:

  • Access to care - We aim for access to care for everyone without barriers.

  • Affordability - We aim for affordable health care, meaning cost should not be a barrier to accessing care.

  • Awareness - We aim to increase awareness of chronic and rare conditions, including their impact

  • Health Equity - We aim for equal access to health care, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, income level, age, disability, geography, or any other means of stratification.

  • Prevention & Early Detection - We aim to:

    1) prevent a condition from ever presenting

    2) detect and diagnose a condition early

    3) manage chronic and rare conditions.

  • Quality - We aim for quality, patient-centered care that is based on current professional knowledge and scientific evidence.

The Patient Coalition of Washington was created in 2020, when 14 patient organizations came together to strengthen their voice in Olympia. We are a non-partisan advocacy coalition.
